Today went on a trip from NYC to PA to drop my car off at PES Tuning to get my Kleemann supercharger instaled on my 99 E430. Just in front of the door my BAS ASP ligts came on i dont know from where, the guy in PES told me there is a dealer few blocks from his place that he can have it checked for me so i said ok go ahead, thinking that i still have that extended warranty that i bought from a dealer when i bought the car. I left the car in PA and came back to NY and right away i called the warranty that my car is in a dealer in PA because those lights went on, when i called them i got automaited message that this warranty is under liquidation and to keep all the recieips that leater they might pay me back which i think is bull crap. The warranty name is OMI they under a company by the name of National warranty. I'm pissed because they did not even informed me that the going out of buisness.

Calm down, it is hard to understand what you are upset about.

Merc1 posted about a recent BAS ASR Problem Fixed:

Hi,

Just wanted to share some info, incase you run into it.

My BAS ASR light came on, both places on the corner of the dash and the Computer Display.

My cruise control stopped working.

I talked to Mechanics and MB, they were all telling me things which scared me big $$$, anyway, I found the info on the other forum.

Believe it or not, I bought $12.50 Brake lamp switch and replaced it. It took me 15 min, no more warnings and the problem is solved.

The problem is most likely with the brake switch. Re the warranty company, most are marginal at best with numerous total failures. Many people have gotten stuck like you. When you purchased it I bet you thought you got a deal as it was cheaper than the MB warranty. Well, you learned a bit of a lesson. Sorry. In any case the supercharger you have being installed would void any warranty

Thanks to Merc1

It is pretty simple to do it, I am not good at explaining like other members, however, I will try my best.

1. Under driver side, above brake pedal you will see the cover hoding unerneath the dash board. 3-4 Phillips screw remove them.

2. After removing the screws, it is held by clips, Pay Attention here..

there is a clip right below the Parking release handle and another clip right below the ignition key (These are reference point). Pull the cover down in this area, there are few clips slides out on the side of the cover as well.. not to worry about the side, it comes off easy.

4. After cover removed, follow the brake pedal up and you wil see the switch and few wire. Remember to TURN THE SWITCH CLOCKWISE and it come right out, unplug the wire, and connect new switch and install.

It is very easy to do, and should take you no more than 10-15 min.

I hope this helps.

It might not be the brake lamp switch, but at $15 for the part, it's certainly worth trying first.

Mine similar problem was a faulty wheel position sensor which the dealer was happy to replace for $500.

I don't need a sensor to tell me where the wheels are. They are on the axles where they belong!!
