1998 E320 sedan - Doors lock automatically
My MBZ e320 sedan suddenly has developed a problem. The door locks get actuated when I get out of the car ( even if the engine is running) a bit scary because I have my dogs inside the car. Is there a default switch to avoid this serious problem?

A very important prerequisite is do you have an owners manual--why
because the central locking system is very complicated to diagnose without some special tools-never the less do you remember if you set the system to lock globally or selective----that process is apart of the manual.
Additionally and depending on your dash and key settings to prevent unwanted unlocking by remote control, the vehicle is re-locked automatically if a door is not opened within 40seconds, if a key is not inserted in the ignition or the interior switch is not operated.
Based upon your information---sounds like the system is working as you have set up--my suggestion is review the manual and set the system up to your needs!!
If my thinking is not correct--then I always quick test(yes it costs money) every car to determine faults rather that wasting your time with mumbo jumbo *****---- oh try this or try that on your time, but 99 percent of the time there is no solution by guess work!!

One of central locking switches is acting.
I would start checking from trunk lock.
You can pull the plugs from it for testing. That might require blade later for unlocking, so first make sure the blade is working.
Don't fall for the spam suggesting that you need DAS for minor adjustments.

for the heck of it, try deactivating the drive-away auto lock feature and see if
that does anything
