1997 E320 glove box removal
I have watched videos and read how to remove the glove box . I still can not remove it. Is there a special tool that you have to use?

Hopefully you are not watching one of those BW ada boy videos---- they never get it right!!
In any event please advise at what step, repeat what step in the removal process that you are unable to process and remove the glove box!!

I removed all 6 screws and the one under the glove box light. I tried to get a pry tool between the glove box and frame but was unable to remove the glove box. Is there another screw that I am missing? I don't see how jerking on the glove box will remove it without breaking the glove box.

Looks like you have followed the correct procedure---don't pry--simply like you say, with vigor, yank or pull the glove box out-----if you live in a red line area, simply stop a teenager on the street they will surely be able to help!!

I recall having to pull or pry the top of the box down a bit before I could pull it out. I believe there are some tabs on the top that hold it in place and I remember someone clipping a couple off so it would come out easier next time. If you are changing the cabin filter, it may be easier to access it from under the hood. I have read that it is easier that way and have seen a DIY video or pictures, but have not tried it.

Make sure all the screws are off as some are on the top and hard to see.
Than once you have the box loose - push the top edge slightly down to expose couple of slots on metal frame behind top edge.
Those slots line up with fins that hold the box from sliding out. Insert flat screwdriver into those slots and push the plastic down to slide the box out.

Kajtek1's instructions are right on; that 's the way I got my glove box out without breaking either of the tabs. Just be careful when pushing the back/top edge of the compartment down not to crack the plastic trim above it.
