E320 Electric Window Issue
The left rear passenger window in my E320 made a "breaking plastic" sound when I opened it the other day, then refused to close after that.
I put it in my garage, pulled the upholstery panel and, after poking around a bit, I found a piece of plastic that appears to be something used to keep one of the window cables inside its track. I also found that the cables themselves had knotted up around the nylon pulley on which the cables get rolled as the window moves up and down.
The motor and everything electrical is fine, but since I've not ever worked on one of these units, I'm a bit mystified as to how to put in back together correctly. I have a feeling I may have to replace some things--for instance that plastic thing or perhaps the whole "frame" part that appears to be riveted into the door.
I guess what I really need is an exploded diagram of how it all is SUPPOSED to be assembled and the part numbers. Does anyone have something like that which is in electronic form that can be sent to me? Or, lacking that, mailed to me (for which I would be happy to pay)?
I have the window mechanism secured in the closed position using my trusty "stick and foam rubber" tool, but it looks pretty bad without the upholstery and it would be useful feature if the window moved up and down again!

Thanks in advance for your help and guidance!!!

usually, nearly always, most likely, probably....the rectangular plastic fitting
in which the spring loaded ends of the cable sit into broke. that is the well
known, achilles heel in the 210 rear regulator.
you can buy a $10 plastic replacement but still spend 30-60 minutes retrofitting
it back into your system (since the part was made for another model). requires
grinding off the large rivet.
even if you do, more than half of the time, the cable will have kinked and
jeopardizes continued use and confidence after reassembly.
I went on Ebay and bought a clone 210 regulator which includes the metal
parallelogram fixture, cable, blah blah. your old motor should be intact and
simply removed and fitted into the newly bought regulator assembly
cost for clone: eh, $40-75
time: meh, put on NPR and listen to wait-wait-dont-tell-me and you may be
done before it's over. if not, then listen to click and clack rerun and it should
be done by the time that program is over.
tools: drill out the old rivets holding the regular arms to the door
may also need rivet gun to install new regulator. i chose instead to use
machine screws, locktite instead
caution: the plastic latches which hold the interior door panel to the door
frame break easily so be careful when prying off.
the plastic vapor barrier is similarly fragile so go slow while you peel it back
to access the regulator
tomorrow is my last day at work. if you're REALLY stuck, buy me a rib eye
dinner and I'll swing by to help. haha
