No Longer "Confused"...

Hello everyone......I JUST BOUGHT MY NEW Brilliant silver 2000 e430 today!!!! Man, its awesome!!! Whitey, now I'm officially part of the family. It took me about 30 mins to find the darn cupholder, but it was well worth it. Now, I've got to just lower it & get some chrome 18's. Then, we'll be in business. Thanks to everyone on this forum for your great help and advice on this purchase. I'll keep you all posted on the progress.

Whoohoo! That's the way! But chrome rims on a silver car??????..........
, just Dave's and my opinions. Instead of spending the extra money on the chrome, use it to get some silver or polished 19's...

The W210 chassis hit the world in 1995 (Europe) and the suspension and wheel wells had no idea that 20" wheels were coming.

When I drive on bad roads or in the city I wished I had left my car at home. Plus your suspension is not as stiff as mine. 18" and bigger rims on a W210 is not easy to live with. I am being honest and tell people that they change the suppleness of the suspension and makes more rattling. Also big rims and low profile tires are more subceptible to damage, bent rims and flats.
I even once destroyed a 17" rim beyound repair hitting a pothole.
Very interesting deucezero........Dubs on my car??? Hmmm...... the reason that interests me is becuase I found out that I cant lower my car. I do have a 4matic & I guess that would screw with the AWD. Not a big deal to me, however the only problem that I would see having is wheelgap.... Has anyone ever put 20's on a 4matic? Would I be able to get away w/ just 18's or 19's 7 still make it look classy w/out lowering it? Thanks again.

You are lucky, maybe you live in an area with pristine roads. I live in an urban area. Maybe you cruize and I drive hard and fast. 19" and 20" on a W210 is just for looks and not for performance.

Regardless, I'm not attacking anyone but just stating my true opinion from the facts of my everyday driving. I wouldn't recommend something if I knew there were going to be problem. To each their own and 18's look great, don't get me wrong, but I prefer the look and handling of 19's and that's precisely what I've stated.
Good luck giullermo and post some pics. of your ride when you have some...
P.S. It doesnt matter who's suspension is stiffer or who's wheels are bigger.......all that matters is the stud driving it!!!!!
Have a great one, guys!

I totally agree Jimmy. However, some sacrifice in ride quality is inevitable........

I once sit in an E430 with 18" wheel, the ride was aweful, I feel every rock, bit, and bump from the road. Even when it cruise on the freeway, I felt like the car has no air in tires at all. Similar feeling when sitting in my buddy 350z with 18" wheels. And that's only 18" !!!. That's for the driver, for the passenger, it was torture. And yes, I live in southern Cali, where road condition is from good to very good.
I feel kind of sorry to feel people with ultra-low profile tire have to go over bump or dip at 2 mph. I thought part of owning the car is to enjoy the ride as well, along with the look. How fun is it to have every piece of your bone rock, not to mention dealing with bump and pot-hole as careful as with the IRS audit.
Anything more than 18", to me, is simply for car show only. If you use the car for daily driving, it's soooo not worth it.

Most definately agree with Dave and with the slight sacrifice in ride softness, there aren't any problems that result from 19's on the car. The speed nor the handling in my opinion is great reduced, especially when you have some ultra-light wheels like Davey boy here, lol...
zam2000, what tire pressure were those 18" running? I went from the stock 16's, to 17's then 18's, with various widths using 31-34psi. I thought my 18s were a superb balance between ride quality and handling. The 19's sure look and handle much better tho.

? I don't have any "pains" or trouble with mine.
.....Are there any other more cost efficient alternatives?
