SoCal Wheel Repair Opinion/Recommendations?
Hello,
I hit a big piece of wood on I-15 (no time to avoid it) and bent a wheel.
Does anyone have an opinion on whether this can be repaired or not:

If so, can anyone recommend a wheel repair shop in SoCal? I remember reading about someone's good experiences with a guy near LA, but I can't find the thread. Any estimate of the cost?
Also, does anyone have 17 inch OEM e430 wheels for sale? Cosmetic condition might be unimportant (I'm already replacing this one from the dealer). I am looking for other ones to mount snow tires on. So, depending on whether the wheel can be repaired, I may need 1 or 3 wheels.
Thanks!
Kevin

Ouch!!! Dude, sorry to hear about your unfortunate incident...you should check the discussion "wheel repairs in LA" on the tech forum; Wheels & brakes... Jimmydagreek recommends a few shops in the Santa Ana area that seem to offer the best prices in town.

Painful dude...just painful..
the damage looks exactly the same as the damage that occured with my 18 inch Azev. Went over a small pot hole and the exact kind of dent occured.
At first, I thought it was a simple bang back to shape job, unfortunately, there was already a small crack behind the wheel..they had to melt the piece back. Its all ok and all, but the finishing sucks now.. I had silver spokes and lacquered dish, and i couldn't skim the damage dish anymore as it would thin out the rim. So in the end, I sprayed it silver and lacquered it at the same time. Can't really see the damage from far. Total cost was about US 100 to fix.
good luck man...the guys in the States could probably do a better job though compared to here. :P

Turns out, I bent the left rear wheel as well.
Dealer missed this, even though he rotated the tires! It was very obvious when driving the car after the first wheel was fixed.
How do you tell if a tire is too damaged to reuse? He claimed that the belts "broke" on the inside of the wheel in my attached picture. Looking at the inside of the tire, you can see that it rubbed against the wheel. However, I don't see any blistering or distortion of the rubber on the inside of the tire. Can it be used (at least as a spare)?
Thanks!
