On The W210 to replace the Fog lite lens/bulb you can access the Lite through a door on the front lower splash pan
use a Flat blade screw driver to turn the screw and the door will release you will then have access to the fog lite

Lightbulb

Check to see if the harness is burned out, when you get the bulb.Or,put the one that works in the spot where the other burned out.Ive had 3 sets of harnesses changed.

How did your hardness get burned? Did you install a factory spec. or aftermarket brand. Some people are suggesting the Some PIAA H1 Bulbs. This weekend I'll try to take it off see if the harness is burned or bulb just quit.

Any recommendation of brand names or any the H1 bulb will work good?

Philips Crystal or Diamond Vision are very white and close to xenons.....Stemags, why aren't you plugging your PIAAs? LOL!

thanks, will go to the store and check them out. These brand should be good and it won't cause the harness or lens cover melt correct?

Yep, Philips is as good as OEM in terms of reliability (in Asia, the OEM bulbs are either Osram or Philips anyways). Not sure about PIAAs but they are Japanese.....but I hear they are pretty good...Stemags, where are you?

Thumbs up So true

I have the PIAA extreme white plus back in there now,and I have the Philips Crystals on the side waiting their turn.PIAA is real good, close to the xenons in color. And same wattage and heat output as OEM.The harnesses is a thing MB has been dealing with for a while on lots of 210's.I asked my service rep to put in heavy duty harnesses this time around,so lets see.

This fog light are really pain to get to. I open the splash pan, hard to get a feel of it. Do I need to jack up the car to take a look at it? can't even see how the bulb was attached!

Drive the car up on 2 bricks, front tires only,so you can get your head in there.A wire spring with 2 tabs which seperate and move away, that holds the bulb in place.Unhook the main wire connector, and keep your fingers off the bulbs. That should do it.

Harness burned?

stemags,

This morning we had little fog. So I decide to turn on all my fog lights, front and rear. I have not replace the right side front fog bulbs yet, even though I know there is one burned out. I was gonna do it this weekend some time and wrok on it. I knew I will get a warning message in the cluster when I turn the lamps on showing 1 Mulfunction for check lights and it did. But the strange thing is when I exit the vehicle (30sec security delay) and turn around look back the fog light came on again. So I am confused I don't know whether my harness is bad causing the intermitten connection or when I shut the door cause the virbration made the light turned on, or I have a bad harness, could be a bad bulb too. I guess I won't know for sure until this weekend, when I get a chance to mess with it. Is fog light harness is a high warranty item? if it does dealer should replace them, I have about 4,000 mile on it before the warranty goes out.
P.S. This is got an OEM blubs, I haven't change anything since I had the car.

thanks,

Yep,I had a similar thing happen to me when the first harness was about to go out.I tapped the fog lense and it came back on.It should be covered by the 4yr 50k mile warranty. And if the dealer is a decent fella and knows you have had a history of harness problems,he should hook you up afterwards too.
Its a pain in the ***.
I believe that all MB dealerships have been dealing with these harness issues, and they probably have worked out something, like a heavy duty harness which is what I had done 3 wks ago with the B service.Keep us advised brother!

Good deal,,I have to think that MB wants no association with the words "lemon law".Therefore to keep their clients happy,a smart dealership would work hard to keep them.

Guess what dealership said? He said if it happens again, bring it in, and they will look at it, because it is easier for them to troubleshoot! I have also asked him about the warranty regards the bad wiring harness. He said he rarely see it happen before! I Don't know if I should believe him or just a bunch of BS. Well, I guess I'll wait when the light goes out again then bring it in. I confirmed with the 2nd dealer got the same response.

I guess they feel confident that they can fix a reoccurring problem by the time the warranty ends?Jees,I hope so too!I dont think they would BS too much on something like that though.I hope they get it done right for your sake,Im 3 wks into the latest cable harness for the fogs,I'll keep you posted, you do the same.

Keep my lights on!

I'll keep my fog lights on from now on when ever I am driving. Make sure they don't go out again before the warranty goes out. I'll keep you posted.
thanks.
