Hello MBWorld; got a question about the 722.6 tranny

I am a first time Benz owner, having purchased a 2002 E320. I am loving the look and feel of a solid safe car.
Currently, I'm trying to solve my first problem with the transmission. It starting to go in to "limp" mode at random. It was less than a half quart low, so I topped it off, but it didn't help.
I read about the 13 pin connector problem, so I purchased the MB part, and attempted to install it. I got the old one out with no problem, but I'm having a devil of a time trying to get the new to seat properly. It seems that the "female" part of the connector in the tranny "floats" and moves a bit. I can't get the 13 pin connector to seat squarely on the raised triangular "keys", and therefore the connector won't push down to meet the thread hole.
Does anyone have any advice as to how to proceed? I'm thinking of using my Dremel tool to make the "key" holes in the connector bigger. If it works, it shouldn't affect the middle area where the gaskets are.

Don't drill anything. You just need to wiggle it gently until it goes in. Did you make note of the exact position of the old connector?
If the socket in the conductor plate is broken (which would explain why it floats, since it shouldn't), you need to drop the valve body and replace the plate, which is a good time to check the other guts on the plate.
Take a look at Kent's excellent series (specifically part 3 & 4) that will answer your questions:
Edit: MBWorld has got a problem with the auto parsing of youtube links so links to playlists don't work. The list is called "Fixing Mercedes 722.6 Automatic Transmission Shift Problems" and you can find it on the MercedesSource channel.
