engine temperature

Hi all,

I have noticed the engine temperature on gauge in my 01 e430 4matic stays in the middle which it's reading was about 80 however, when the car is in idle, then the temperature slowly raises to near 100 then slowly decreased to about 80 once car is moving. I'm kind of concerned about this and it is very annoying....
Can someone help me with this?

Also, how should I know whether my brake pads are 1-pin or 2-pins?

Re: engine temperature

About the temperature, that's normal for Mercedes. When your car move, the air help to cool down the engine, not to metion that the main fan run at much higher speed,. When your car stop, low main fan speed, no air, and that raise the engine temperature. If you have AC on while your car stop, then you'll eventually see the two aux fans run. Anyway, unless the temperature runs close to the red, there's nothing to worry about. It's just the way mercedes build the temperature: no buffer, and show real engine temperature (most japanese and american car have buffer, so there's no movement in the gauge when temperature move 20-30 degree).
