After washing the engine bay covering all electronic components I started the car and I got a check engine light on. The warning message engine electronics popped up on the screen and the car would Rev and shake on idle. Any ideas what could of gone wrong now? I checked all the spark plugs the maf sensor the fuel injector connections and nothing. I have a 1997 E420

That's the worse thing you could do, give it a day or two to completely dry out. Remember you drive a 20 year old car. Focus on the exterior!

Per my experience "electronics" was PPS, but could be more.
Check Codes.

Well the car finally threw a code for misfire in cylinder 4 so I took out the coil and it was soaked in water, big mistake spraying the engine bay. Anyway I dried everything off and it's all working fine now and I have a Shiney ish engine bay!!
