98 E320 wont start

My e320 has been having issues every once in a while you would turn the key dash lights would come on but no start not even a click. But for some stupid reason you slam the glove box a couple times and it would start! It seem to happen more in the cold. Talked to a dealer they thought maybe ignition wasn't syncing with key??? Out of nowhere it stopped doing it hasn't happened for almost a year. Then the car sat for a month or two and I went to start it batt was dead so jumped the car and it started no problem. Went to move it again went to jump it and same **** dash lights come on but turn the key and nothing can't here the fuel pump! Not even a click like the batt is dead. Batt issue? Or do I have somthing more serious like some type of security module the cuts power to starter and pump? Or key issue not sync with car I'm lost at this point. Any idea would greatly appreciate the imput

there is probably not much we can determine from where we are. you have the car in
front of you and the ability to perform a simple voltage test (do this at rest as well as
during cranking) and report back.

just because you 'jumped' the battery, that doesn't mean that the possibly under voltaged
car has been restored to good health. battery really should be placed on a trickle (slow)
charger. if the battery is a your older, flooded cell design, someone needs to check the
fluid level and specific gravity too (both very quick and easy)
