New key issue

Hello everyone. I got a new key for my sons 98 E430 about a month ago. It programmed with no issues and he remote functions properly. The one thing it has been doing is about every 10 starts, it starts and dies! You can't just try and restart it. You need to remove the key and reinsert it to start. Then it starts. The factory key works with no problems.
Is there something else that I am missing. The dealer said to program it you just insert it and start the car which is what I did and it worked.

Thanks.

you've already paid a pretty penny for the new key. it has a decent chance of
being under some warrantied performance so I'd try to have the dealer make
the key good...whatever the cause.

they may detect error codes. they may isolate the cause to be non-key related.

it may be the new key itself.

It is common flaw, that forum (the other forum) pointed to smaller transmitter window on newer chrome keys.
I am afraid you have to live with it, but call to key selling dealer could be useful.
