New wheels for 98 E430

Hello everyone. My son is wanting to replace the wheels on his car. He is wanting either 17 or 18” wheels. What width and offset would be needed? And what would be the best size tire? He will keep the factory Benz wheels for winter use. He is also thinking of lowering springs. Preferably 1-1.25”.

Any my thoughts on what would be the best combo, and if anyone has any pics of wheels and/or lowering it would be helpful. Thanks

I'm running '07-'09 E Class wheels on my wagon. They're 18x8 front and 18x8.5 rear with 235/40 and 265/35 tires. Zero issues with rubbing at stock height. I did have to get custom lug bolts, but they were only around $60. The specs on them were RAD 12mm x 1.5, 26mm Shank, R14 Ball Seat. I'm hoping to have the car lowered 2"+ within the next few weeks. Just waiting on new front shocks to ship right now.

These are my favorite wheels on the W210 aside from the E55 Monoblocks (which cost $$$$ for a nice set).
