Could use a hand understanding how to remove these headlights - SOLVED
EDITED for Solved.
Hey everyone! I've been here using information from all of you for the past two years since I bought my 2001 E320 wagon, my burgundy beast!
All the bulbs around the vehicle have been replaced except the headlamp bulbs, I've two problems.
Problem one is picture 3 where i discovered this bulb inside the small headlamp. It was just resting in its socket and when I pulled it out I could see why. The housing is broken and this is probably why I get the rapid clicking when I signal right. Does anyone know what this part is called 'ie' low beam bracket? something like that?
Also in picture 4 and 5 you can see the electrical connection is the big red warning sign. I disconnected it to realize there is no bulb I can pull. Where is the bulb? Is this a sealed unit or something like that?
SOLVED issues:
The broken light socket is the 'parking lamp'. The socket itself is an 8 dollar part, easy to find.
The high powered low beam is an HID Xenon.
Thanks in advance, the Burgundy Beast's owner.
The Burgundy Beast!
Opening the small headlamp housing and I find 2 bulbs.
The lower bulb was just resting in its housing.
And this was the reason, looks broken. Would this be the poor contact causing the weird signal cadence on the right side?
Opening the large headlamp housing and there's a serious looking power connector.
A twist counter clockwise it comes off but now I have no idea how to remove the bulb?

Your signal bulbs are above the bulb with the "serious looking power connector" (HID).
Not the best picture but its that white connector on the left side in the image. When its in the car it is kinda under the rad support

I just want to applaud your pictures. Things would be so much easier if everyone could take quality close up pics of stuff like that when asking a question.

Thanks Raymond! I'll need this down the road and it was what I was looking for.
Stayed up late last night searching and digging, found that the broken socket picture is a parking lamp and the socket is an 8 buck part.
With your video I'll be able to replace should I need, which I don't right now but not knowing what that was and how to deal with it was bugging me

yes, the city bulb socket...and harness is a well known weak spot on the w210 and has a tendency to decompose. the harness and/or socket may melt and fuse together, rendering the light inoperational. MB has a replacement harness, but I do not know if this means it was improved, or you're just buying the same poor design (like their rear window regulators)

hahahaha I just replaced the drivers side rear window regulator on Sunday. I kid you not.
Here's the list of repairs on the beast since I got her 2 years ago in Canada. Total purchase price 3k and she was in baaaad shape.
Gas tank replaced along with associated parts (filler neck etc)
Transmission wire harness O ring replaced. Wire harness and CTU cleaned out.
Water Pump
Rear coil springs
Front brake lines.
New tires of course.
New purge valve (still hasn't fixed the emissions code - Evap canister is next)
New bulbs all the way around with the exception of the headlamps
New window regulator
New battery
New exhaust pipe weld on
And I'm 100% sure I've forgotten things.
Next up is that city lamp socket, going to cut that right at the wiring and replace if need be.
Outside temp sensor
The final big job will be replacing the two front fenders and the door skins on passenger and drivers side as they're rusted out.
I've learned that if you're semi capable with tools a Mercedes is a fun project and a great buy!
