Fan Spinning at full power

Fan Spinning at full power
Merc C320 2008 - yesterday on the way home I have noticed that my engine fan was spinning at full power. Half way home i started to smell burning plastic getting more potent. The stench was terrible. Then i realised my beam lights not responding and my indicators are playing up also. This morning i've started the car and the beams were working fine so did the indicators but my windscreen wipers and spray was not responding. The fan was still spinning at full speed.
Did anyone experienced something like this or does anyone know the cause of the problem and the fix?
Regards
Archie

Hi Archie,
No idea what it could be, but you may want to post your question in the correct forum. This is the w210 e class forum.

Out Of Control!!
Regarding the fan issue, the symptoms sounds like you have a faulty fan control module----what does that mean, it means that there is no free solution you have to go to a shop for repair!

With all of the additional things you are seeing in addition to the fan issue, it sounds like a SAM issue as it controls the power to your wipers, fan controller, and many other things on your car. Also, be sure to check all of the fuses. Fuses labeled for a circuit that appears to have absolutely noting to do with your issue could indirectly impact the module causing the problem, so it takes little time and could be a simple, inexpensive fix.
