Lowering an E430

Lowering an E430
Hi all,
I'm interested in lowering my E430 and was wondering how much I could lower it without needing modifications like camber plates or fender rolling. I don't want to slam it, just a slight drop for that OEM+ look. I'd like to keep it just to a set of shocks/springs and pads, but I'm pretty new to this so if there's something else that's necessary for these mods please let me know
As of now, I'm looking at Koni Sport shocks and H&R Sport Springs from Tire Rack. I've heard of looking for a parted-out E55 and grabbing the suspension from that, but I have no clue where to find one of those.
I appreciate any help and am looking forward to modding my car a bit.
Thanks!!

based on the geometry and specs of the 210 cars a lowering of less than 1" should not result in the
need to have camber bolts installed. fender rolling generally isn't an issue unless you change the
offset of the front wheels or go with taller/wider tires. H&R sport springs, if you read the tech specs,
will result in a drop of 1.5-2" and thus, require camber adjusters.
here is a link to an old primer which may help give you a foundation of what you're about to undertake

I've got cut H&R springs (I think 2 coils removed) on my wagon right now and they lowered the car about 1.5" all around. Zero issues with rubbing and it hasn't needed an alignment. My tire wear is fine and the car doesn't pull to the sides at all.
The springs were off of my old W210 E55 and the front shocks are some Bilstein B6 ones for an E430 Sport. There's a pic of the car in my sig.

as others stated, with a drop less than 2 inches, you wont need much in the way of camber bolts/arms/etc, but i would highly recommend an alignment. Your rear tow could be barely within spec right now and a mild drop could put it out of whack. It will also save your tires.

Dropping my 01 e430
I know this is an old thread. But could anyone possibly lead me in the direction of how to get my hands on a set of spring pads? I’m running 19in AMG wheels and I’d like to bring the car down a bit.

based on the research I’ve been doing with the part numbers you’ve provided, none of these seats are compatible with my e430. Also am I stuck going thru eBay or a dealer to acquire these parts or are there other options?

I'm not sure why you feel the part numbers aren't suitable for your model. Are you getting different part numbers
or is some robot web part engine saying "does not fit" etc or what? These are simply hockey pucks in different
thicknesses and aren't finely engineered by engine size or car weight so (for the most part) cover all 210s.
Why not just pick a car parts vendor online and let them source the proper parts then? That way THEY can
stand behind their order if it doesn't fit your VIN

That's what I have on my bookmarks.
(These also work on our 99 w202)

My sons is lowered approx 1 1/4". With the OE 16" wheels it looks pretty good for doing it cheap. Tires are a bit wider and a lower profile. Springs are H&R.
actually I don’t think that pic had the lowering springs on it.
I do know this one does though!

hi illest
love the "stance" shown in your w210 photo and want to duplicate it / help me pls
My setup: 98 E430 rims 18" monoblocks from E55 / stock suspension bits
your signature line says . . . . . . . . . . . . #1F #2R pads
does that mean the first below front of 5mm and the second of 9mm ? or ?
and . . . in your opinion is the ride still good ?
and . . . Vogtland's web site says their "SPORT LOWERING SPRING" drops by 1.6" . . . sound right ?

I have 5mm pads in the front and 9mm in the rear
The ride with the vogtland springs is not too bad. I live in the Washington DC area so many of the roads are not in good condition. On good roads the ride is nice. It has been years since I had the stock suspension so I can give a good comparison.
Here are some pictures before and after the springs
Before the drop. Stock suspension with #3 pads in all around
After the drop

This is a really old thread but for any potential future 'searches' on the subject, here is a link to my E320 height-drop.
