I cannot recommend this model. If you want a reliable diesel, find a nice older model (80s). Or, you could buy mine

Come on, you think YOU guys have it bad with glowplugs! I might have a bottom end in my 350SD, for the SECOND time getting ready to give up the ghost.
It might be, that the '87 model diesels were the last fully mechanical million mile low maintanence diesels ever to be produced by MB.
Although the engines for the '95 - '99 E300's are very robust and will go the long haul if you stay with them.
Can't speak for the new CDI's, but I've heard the E300's are a dream compared to the potentiality of problems that COULD go wrong with them as time wears on.
Despite that I think the '95 E300D is a very nice car. Very modern, solid, and quiet. Good fuel economy, and good power once you get up to speed. Nice sound to it too.
