HELP NEED ADVICE! 2001 E430 W210 Engine Swap or other mods?

Hi all, what are your opinions on engine swapping a 2001 E430 with a E55 engine? My Dad bought the gorgeous E430 brand new back in '01 and we have kept it in amazing condition, only 60k miles on the odometer! But I'm looking to add a good amount of power to it, I hate the way Mercedes wasted a huge 4.3 L V8 giving it a measly 275 horsepower. I came across a mint condition E55 W210 engine and I was thinking about swapping it into my E430. Are there any risks in doing this? Also would it easily install without having to alter anything else under the hood? Would modding the ECU be necessary? Lastly, are there are notoriously known performance mods on the W210 E class that you know of or have done that could produce 300+ HP without touching the engine? I thought about putting in a supercharger instead. Any suggestions are appreciated. Have a blessed one!

Sell it and buy an E55.

The E55 only has a measly 349 hp. Not worth the effort IMO. Also, a 4.3 V8 is huge? My 6.2 V8 must be ****ing monster then.

Your not getting my point, for the size of the engine they babied the hell out of it. Literally the same displacement rate as a Ferrari F430,I'm guessing this was to the accommodate for the rather sluggish E55 for an AMG. Even though it only has 350 hp,did that 392 IBs of torque pack a punch? But unfortunatelyI can't sell it, I spent most of my childhood in that car from the day we drove It off the lot too much sentimental value, the pops would cry if he found out I sold it. I was thinking about getting a 2007 or 2008 E63 since I love that classic E look that baby has got some serious power. I've heard they're notorious for being a mechanic's best friend though and that's saying something since most Mercs do require a good amount of service since the germans love going above and beyond as far as computer tech and engine specs go.

A lot of guys have done that swap, even 320 to 55. Not sure what they did with wiring and whatnot but i do know that if you keep the same year, its more compatible. Check on the guys who did C43AMG to C55 swaps. Should be similar.

Be aware your E430 has a 722.623 transmission. The E55, depending upon date of build, used a 722.623/4/36 transmission. The 722.624/36 have one additional friction disc and one additional steel disc in the K1, K2, and K3 clutch packs for increased torque capacity. So...be aware that your transmission life may be a bit less with the E55 engine installed. I don't think it would be too bad but if you ever need to rebuild your .623 transmission, have it rebuilt to the .624 or .626 configuration.
