looking for a new ride
I am looking for a good cruiser car for long trips (Diesel) been looking at 96-03 with the inline diesel would like to know good and bad for these cars E320D
the periodic maintenance- engine issues- transmission issues - electronic I have heard the newer bluetech are a mechanics nightmare I want something I can work on

You choose not to disclosure your location, while in USA in mentioned period - you have only 1996-1999 the 3l OM606 diesels in W210 body.
Pretty bulletproof engines, but finding good car with over 20 years might be hard to do.
The 1996-97 models come as NA diesel, what has annoying power curve.
