2001 E320 Random Stalling, restarts immediately

2001 E320, 150K miles, Phoenix area. Every now and then the engine will die. It is random. Car comes to a complete stop, I take off the ignition key, reinsert, and the car starts immediately and continues to drive with no problem. It may not happen again for several days or even weeks, then it happens again. CPS and throttle sensor have been replaced. No error codes. Seems to be happening more often when the motor is hot, e.g. after driving 50-100 miles on the highway.
Any idea what could be the problem? Local Mercedes mechanic is at a loss.

If your engine just "cuts out" like someone flipped a switch - then that is likely CPS - CPS will not throw error code

Where did you buy CPS ? Anything not-genuine-marked-Bosch is absolutely junk - even if auto parts retail store who says "our brand made by Bosch"/junk - if your MB mech replaced the CPS - then suspect him too.

It is indeed like someone flipped a switch. CPS was MB original, as far as I remember, and when I replaced it before, it showed the typical CPS failure that it took a little time for the car to start after the engine died. But it is cheap enough to change again, so I will try this one first. Thanks.

Pull this newer one - clean tip with MAF spray - it could be just dirty. If you have pulled it before you have either Bosch 0031532828 (or 0261210170) the Bosch 2-clip 0261210141 .. $25/$45 respectively under genuine Bosch brand from reputable seller - Amazon Prime works if Genuine Bosch

There are a LOT of people who pay a Bosch price for the CPS - for example from a auto parts store - not knowing they bought China sh*t..
