Hard shifting/conductor plate question

My ‘99 e320 has recently starting shifting hard from 2nd to 3rd every once in awhile. After about a week I was driving and after a hard shift into 3rd, it went into limp mode. I pulled over, shut the car off and restarted it. It did it again. Would that be the shift solenoids or just the conductor plate? Thanks in advance

1st things 1st - check the Tranny Adapter plug fir internal leakage - and check the Transmission Control Module for contamination to get this small thing out of the way. If replacing the lug replace with Genuine MB/Mopar only - clean TCM board by pulling and flood cleaning both sides with MAF cleaner.

Once that's done - next time it happens - get a "code" - frankly a conductor plate replacement is affordable - as long as #1 has been taken care of - and that you drain/refill tranny properly with proper fluid after conductor replacement

Ok, I finally had a little time to check it out. I checked the module under the hood and everything was dry.
I pulled the tranny plug and it was flooded with fluid.
Do I just clean that out real good, plug it back up and see how it works? Can the plug on the tranny side be replaced without taking everything apart?

Yes - replace tranny plug ... MUST be genuine Mercedes or MOPAR only... like this :

https://www.amazon.com/Mercedes-Transmission-Connector-Adapter-Genuine/dp/B00DOCVVVI/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=722.6+adapter+plug+mercedes&qid=1556926677&s=gateway&sr=8-2 https://www.amazon.com/Mercedes-Transmission-Connector-Adapter-Genuine/dp/B00DOCVVVI/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=722.6+adapter+plug+mercedes&qid=1556926677&s=gateway&sr=8-2

Please "pull out" the TCM board and see if there is fluid on the connector....

Do a YouTube search for helpful videos..

Ok, I’ll order that plug. I unplugged the TCM connectors to check for fluid and they were both dry.
Thanks for the replies!
