SRS Light on 1998 E320 W210
This is my first post so pardon the mistakes. My passenger front seat apparently has a broken seat sensor because the SRS light is on all the time in the dash and the seat light stays on in the council. So after reading several post on this and other sites, I decided to purchase a seat sensor emulator from ebay. This particular seat emulator came with a seat belt emulator as well. The one thing I was a little nervous about is whether the SRS light would go out if the emulator fixed the problem. Several people on this site were imfactic about the light will stay on and you have to have someone from Auto Zone hook up a diagnostic meter and turn the light off. After the emulator arrived I followed the instructions and set the DIP switches 1 and 3 up and 2 down. Hooked the emulator up to the seat sensor plug and started the car. NO LIGHT on the dash and the seat light on the center council was not on either. So there you have it. Once the problem is fixed on a 1998 E320, the dash light SRS will go out. No need to have someone hookup diagnostic tool.

FYI most of the issues is not bad sensor, but broken wire going to it.
The wire flex each time somebody sits down and after a number of bends it cracks, often with no visible damage on the outside.
With some time you can remove the sensor and solder bypass wires to it, what will restore full function and keep your passenger protected in case of accident. .
That assuming that 20 yo airbag will still deploy.
