Anyone recommend a mechanic in Boston?

Hi all,
I'm pretty tired of getting taken to the cleaners by my dealer here in Boston. $720 estimate to change a mass air filter, gimme a break! Can anyone recommend to me an honest mechanic who specializes in MB? I'd appreciate any help given.

Try Hatch and Sons in Wayland. www.hatchandsons.com They provide loaners too.

sorry, shouldn't have been so vague. I had 3 error codes initially. 1st was easy- MAF, so I ordered a new one and installed it (around $300 vs ~$700 dealer estimate). 2nd was cylinder 2 misfire so I changed the plugs as a first step. 3rd had something to do with intake temp... ( I can't remember). After changing the MAF and plugs the car ran great, mileage went back up and I thought I was in the clear. Now the CEL light is back on with the same rough idle, and I feel that rather than poke around myself I want to have it diagnosed by a reputable mechanic other than a dealer. Probably need the timing belt checked, maybe compression since it's over 100k miles and maybe some fluids changed. A lot of these diagnostics are the typical dealer screwgies so I need someone I can trust...

Do you have an OBDII scanner? If not just go to AutoZone and they will put it on their machine to read the code for the CEL. I have my own scanner and read the codes myself. Did you change the plugs yourself. A friend of mine did the same thing only to find out later that he had 2 bad ignition wires.

I don't have an OBDII scanner which leads me to my original question... Can anyone recommend an honest Benz specialist around Boston??

I bought my car from Hatch and Sons and service it there too, except for yesterday when the Starter gave up and I had it towed to Chambers Motorcars. $$$$$$$$ but Chambers did do a good job and was on time.

Talk to Ed Owen at Hatch and Sons in the Service department, he's a good guy.

I would also recommend European Car Doctors in Boston, MA
The owner and also mechanic is Carmine - talk to him, see what he can do?
his number is 617-262-5525 and his shop is in Fenway, just behind Mercantile Bank on Brookline Avenue.

Best of luck!

Best Mechanic in the area

See Dino at Japanese Motors

97 Liberty Street
Quincy,MA 02169
617-773-2318

I drive all the way from RI to use Dino even for oil changes.

He was recommended to me by a good friend who is a MB fanatic. 8 Cars

I know the name would lead you to believe that he would not work on Mercedes but he was traine by MB and is very honest.

Once you meet him you will know he is the real mecoy

Most of his clients wash their cars before they bring them in for service.
