1999 Mercedes-Benz e320 a/c problem
Hi guys I'm new here. I just get a 1999 mb e320 here In florida with a/c problem. Blower is dead I think is the resistor? But I noticed the a/c compressor don't engage? I Don't know if the resistor have something to do with the compressor? I hate a estimate from a mb mechanic says fix the problem is around 2500$!! I pay for the car 800$ have 97 thousand miles. Any information will be highly appreciated.

Did the indie test it or just giving you number$ ?
He says need to replace the compressor because Don't engage. He says the resistor has nothing to do with the compressor . Says replace resistor ,blower and compressor. How a can test the blower?

Did you check the fuse for the blower?
Now you say after, the car has been sitting in storage for 7 years. (You need to tell the "whole story" if you want correct recommendations on what to do.)
Check refrigerant pressure. Compressor wont engage too if it's level is low (and it's been sitting for 7 years...)

I bought the car 2 weeks ago. Is 1999 e320 with 97 thousand miles . Was in the storage for 7 years . Wife of the former owner says car was working perfect (including the a/c) for 800$ I Don't look to detail to be honest.i put the car in a flatbed and bring it home . Change oil, new battery check all fluids and then start the car and I find out a/c not blowing blower don't move I bring the car to the autoshop for a complete diagnosis and they say replace compressor and blower I don't know if the check the blower to be honest. I dont want to spend tons of money fixing the a/c. I find blower and resistor on amazon for 200$ but I want to know if the resistor/blower have something to do with the compressor. I Don't know how much compressor can cost me and labor to replace

You bought computerized car, where everything is married to each other and interlocked to work as well design piece of machinery.
When you might not see relation between blower and compressor, nobody in his right mind would want to freeze the system becouse blower doesn't work.
When I can't tell for sure it is happening here, the car has lot of idiot-proof systems that protect it from owners.
So once again, fix what you know is bad and then make next step.

You are right! The only thing what I can do is bring the car to the right mechanic with the right tools. Maybe is not pressure in the system and for that reason compressor Don't engage. Like you says to many system connect together in this type of car.

Even the technology is 20 years old, not too many mechanics know how to deal with variable output compressors, so finding the "right mechanic" have been proven to be quite a challenge and that's is where the $2500 estimates are coming from.
Than it doesn't take much knowledge to DIY the system and troubleshooting takes about the same time, what typing 2 forum replies.
Obviously that apply only to owners who want to fix the car, not bypass its systems.

David,
You also have to take into consideration:
1) the w210 has been sitting for 7 YEARS
2) "Wife of the former owner says car was working perfect (including the a/c)..." - and you believed her to the tune of $800 bucks.
I bet you did't test it....
(I have a million dollar view ocean front property with a nice cottage I can sell you for a mere $1000....located in Idaho )
