2002 E320 Special Edition
Alexbenz,
Your C32 AMG front brake upgrade looks HOT! I have a 2002 E320 special edition with 17" factory wheel & 235/45WR17 tires and always wanted to improve the braking. It's like night and day between this car (wife's) and my own E36 M3. Plus the disgusting brake dust off the factory pads. Looked at several alternatives (Brembo GT - too expensive) and (Brembo OEM & Porterfeld R4s - unsure if any significant improvement since same rotor size only pad is different).
Yours may be a more viable solution but I have a few questions.
1. Is is compatible with the factory braking system (master cylinder/ABS)?
2. I believe you are only upgrading the front brakes but what about the rear. Will there be bias problem since the rears are still factory rotor size?
3. Any problem with the caliper being leading on C32 setup comparing to trailing on factory setup?
4. Realizing that I will changes pads all around (any suggestions?) plus new rotors (any suggestions?) on the rear just to be complete.
5. Is there any clearance issue with my current factory 17" wheel and 235/45WR17 tires?
6. What kind of cost in parts am I looking at? Plus estimated labor hours?
7. Anyone know of a good independence shop in the SF South Bay Area for this upgrade since I do not have any tools to do so?
Thanks in advance..

2. I'll let Alex respond
3. Need to swap left with right and vice versa (that's what Hubert and Alex were discussin)
4. Porterfields I hear are good for reducing dust.
5. Possible clearance issue, may be resolved with spacers.
6. I'll let Alex respond
7. Alex's shop can do it, not sure if that's near where you are...

Bro....that is SICCCKKKK...
wonder how much it would cost to bring em over to Malaysia? lol..I've been wanting to do a brake upgrade for like yonks..
Anyways, seems that your master cylinder can handle the pressure? no gnawing sound when you tap the brakes?
Looking sharp man! can't wait for the final unveil.

Alex/Whitey,
Do you know if the below wheels will clear the C32 Brake Kit?
Front:18x8 ET32
Rear :18x9 ET35
I think the OEM E55 AMG Monoblock wheels are the above offset if I am not mistaken. I am getting a good deal on the wheels and would like to make sure they will fit correctly on my car and clear the C32 brakes.

I would tend to agree that the E55 wheel may not fit. Probably not enough offset and enough clearance for the caliper to squeeze inside the wheel.
There may be enough offset, but the shape of the wheel probably is what is going to stop the fitment.
The C32 caliper fits under a Brabus Monoblock V 8.5X18 with 35mm offset with about 4-5 mm between the curve of the spoke and the outer most edge of the caliper. This is what I have on my car.
Hope that helps,
-travis

Sorry, didnt see this earlier but as Fatchance has mentioned its got a lot to do with spoke design, but I would add to that, the amount of lip combined with the offset. No strict rule as to what fits or not, you or someone else must really have tried it in order to be sure.

The setup looks really nice!
I started a new thread so I wouldn't create too much clutter on this one, but I'll post my questions here and see if anyone can help. I tried using the search already and could not find anything.
Re C32 calipers on '02 E430:
Can I do the same with the E55 calipers without any modification (bolt-on)?
Can I do it with any other AMG car?
What AMG-car years are "good" for this change on my '02?
Where can I get the parts besides the dealership? Cost?
Is there any post where I can get the "how-to"?
