"Carbon Fiber" Door Pillars
OK, ordered from my dealer. With 10% discount, they cost me $500 plus tax. OUCH! There are 2 pieces per side (total of 4).Be aware that these metal replacement door trim plates have a color code. I ordered black ones from a black E55. The silver ones look a bit different.
It took me 1.5 hours to install first side. After I learned what I was doing, the other side took 45 minutes. The most difficult part is getting everything properly clipped on and tucked into the rubber molding. It is recommended that you cover any painted surface with tape as the sharp edges of the trim can easily scratch your paint.

Keep in mind these are for the BLACK trim pieces. Two of the numbers are for left side, two for right side. Not sure which. Hope this helps. They list for $142 EACH.

By the way, I dont think the OEM stuff is good value at those prices. But the look is somewhat better.

I was just wondering why someone would pay all that money and leave the window (glass) pillar untrimmed. I can reason the virtue of not doing it in white but otherwise balck on black it seems odd.

'96 E320
Anyone want to charitably donate their old pillars to a slightly banged up '96 E320?
A recent acquisition in need of some work- the black enamel seems to be chipping off mine, esp. around the front drivers side.
I'll gladly pay shipping.
Thanks
Zach

Or, remove the trim plates, give them a light sanding and THEN paint them. That way you can get the areas hidden by the rubber molding.
