Help a newbie? 99E320 no power to Radio
I understand that there is a fuse box under the seat and also a 10 amp fuse on the back of the stock radio. Any advice for removing the seat, and the radio? I've got no power to the head unit at all.
Thanks

If its the one under the back seat, I think there are release buttons (I think near the safety belt clips) at the base of the seatback...should be quite easy, press the release and lift the seat bottom off from the inside edge. I remember there is also another fuse box under the dash below the headlight switch as well. If its still there, there should be a list of where all the relevant fuses are inside the fuse box in the engine compartment - suggest checking where the radio fuse is before you start dismantling anything. For the radio, you'll need a radio key or something to unhook it.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the box under the hood all fuses good. The fuse map says that the radio fuse is under the rear seat. I'll check it tonight. I'm hoping that this is just a fuse issue. I've got several radio keys from different vehicles over the years one should work with this. Question: If all fuses, under hood, backseat, and rear of head unit are ok. Any other suggestions? I'll of course check for power when (if) I can get the head unit out. I've heard bad things about the fiber optic stereos.
Thanks

When I was installing my indash monitor, I blew the fuse to the radio in my '99 E320, the main power to the fuse for the radio is under the rear seat. The seat bottom removes very easily. If you are seated on the passenger side or right rear seat position, reach down under the right corner of the seat. This would be to right of your right thigh, then you should feel a spring lever, depress it up while pulling up the corner of the seat. You should feel a click as it unsnaps or releases. Do the same for the left hand side, except it will be the left hand corner. When you are getting up from the rear seat, be careful not to snap the seat in the down position again.
Hope this helps.
