Car went to dealer

Sent my car to dealer to replace my converters and my dashboard, I got a call from my service advisor that they will replace cats and dash for $1300, I guess is good since my car has no more warranty.

What year is your e430? How many miles? The federal law on cats is something like 8 years and or 80,000 miles. If your car is under that, the dealership will have to fix the cats. Threaten to go to the US EPA if they do not fix them. Blown cats are a very well know problem with all the V8 models.

Sounds like they charged you for the dash and did the cats for free. They would have had to replace the cats for free since the USEPA says they must warranty their cats to 80,000 miles. Mercedes knows their cats are defective so I don't think they would have fought with you even though you have a supercharger on your car. They can't just void a warranty due to modifications. They have to prove that the modifications caused the failure which wouldn't be easy to do since pretty much all of the 210 V8 catalytic converters will fail in time and most before 80,000 miles.
