Brembo used or new AMG brakes

Guys what do you think used BBK 14.1 or new AMG brakes, if i decide on the used ones what should i wach out for. Guy that is selling the BBK states that he had them on his car for 2000 miles the pads look like they still have 80% left on them. Or i can go with brand new AMG brakes which will be cheaper but new.
THANK YOU

I'd stick to the new AMG's. Brakes are one of those things you don't want to mess around with. My .02....

2002 E320 Special Edition
Hi hubert,

May I ask which brand new AMG brakes are you referring to? Do you have any good deal on it? Please let me know if you would like to share the info. I have been looking around to upgrade on my E320 factory brakes (better performance and less of the nasty brake dust). Brembo BBK is way too expensive. Saw an alternative with the C32 factory front brakes but still not sure for long term safety and compatiblilty. Looked at the factory W210 E55 complete F&R brakes and also very expensive.

Thanks in advance...

Im refering to the C32 brakes i dont think safety and compatiblilty is an issue is just that i like Brembos better and they are bigger+ 2pc rotors but like You said way too expensive.

Sean's Sister--
brembo is pricy but great in so many ways, but i recently did the c32 kit and i'll tell you there is no problems at all with the kit, if anyone tells you that theres a problem, thats BS....for the price you can't go wrong... as far as size, it's 13.6 compared to brembo's 14.1, not that far off. as long as style goes, there's a shop that sells them in different colors........anyone who wants them just pm me and i'll hook anyone up with them.........i will post better pictures up hopefully sometime soon but my car's going under new the knife, new project.........also af far as used stuff goes, when it comes to brakes i wouldn't play around and get used....

btw the w210 e55 cost more and there are not cross-drilled as like the c32 kit....

for more info, pm me or email me at E210benz@aol.com

Are you considering a front-only upgrade or a 4-wheel upgrade, is it mostly for cosmetic purposes or do you plan to track the vehicle?

Inspect the the pre-owned BBK hardware carefully; caliper frame, any micro surface cracks on the rotors and more importantly were the pads bedded in properly.

You did not state which particluar BBK manufacturer, assuming Brembo or StopTech both have an advantage with unsprung weight over the C32 AMG brake kit and are designed & tested for your vehicle's application.

The factory has usually done a good job of matching front & rear bias to the other characteristics of the car to minimize stopping distances before heat induced fade. By installing the Brembo's front only kit you are now altering the brake system to be more front biased than stock which may result in longer stopping distances. Therefore I suggest the Stoptech for front-only application as they are designed to perform better than the Brembo under these conditions.

If you plan to track the car or constantly use the muscle lurking under your hood, a 4-wheel Brembo upgrade would be the choice. A tremendous amount of design effort is focused on producing the system to be as stiff as possible.

Good Luck

^^^^^
what he said, i'm actually trying to work on fiting the w211 e55 brake kit onto my rear......... but from what i heard the c32 kit is up there with the brembo/stoptech..........brembo makes it for the front/rear but stoptech only for the front and what richard said is true , there was some issue with people only putting on brembo's in the front and when you would brake, stopping power be be uneven and something along the lines of leveling of the car would go in a nose drive.......but stoptech's system took care of that......amg system has brembo calipers btw........
