Check engine light on: OBD II code 173?
Does anyone know what a code 173 means? The code diagnosed at Autozone says,
"The PCM has determined that during testing, the fuel compensation value for bank 2 exceeded the specified range."
What can I fix to correct this.
I have reset it a couple of times by taking off the battery cable, but it keeps coming on at low RPM's.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Thanks,
Chris

Go here for codes
P = powertrain
0 = Standard
1 = Emission management
P01XX Fuel and Air Metering
P0173 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 2)
That is a generic code for any OBDII engine.
The dealership or repair shop would have to look at your fuel trim values to determine the fault. You may have a vacuum leak, or a gasket going bad causing and air leak. Your MAF may even be getting dirty. You could continue to drive the car and see if P0170 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 1) also comes up. If you have both 170 and 173, then you can try to clean your MAF with brake or Carb cleaner. Make sure it doesn't leave a residue. Check the lable before you buy the carb cleaner to make sure it says no residue. The MAF is not cheap so be carefull.
