Reliability of 1995 E320
Reliability of 1995 E320
Hello,
I am looking to replace my 1990 300SE that has 227,000 on it with a 1995 E320 with 80,000 miles.
How does the engine/trans hold up in these cars? Was there any issues with the 95 models?
What are things I should look for beside body work?
Thanks in advance

In '98, I sold my 90 E300 w/ close to 200K mile on it, to my brother's friend. The car now has 250K mile, and still runs fine.
Problems: head gasket blow (I should have fixed it when it was leaking), which lead to the head-job (around $1.5K back then), wiring harness job (can't remmember the cost), and water pump (twice). The A/C seems weak (all Benz ??). The sunroof rack need to be replaced once.
Notice that all MB I6 engine has problem w/ head gasket & wiring harhness (design flaw ??). If detected and fixed early, these are some of the most reliable engine Mercedes ever built.
Car is high quality too.
The build quality is really high on that car.
I'm sure people in the W124 forum can you much more helpful advise & testimony.

There was a wiring harness recall on that model that year, make sure it was replaced, and FWIW it is a W124 not a 210
