Anybody using an Optima Battery?

My stock battery is dying. Does anyone know if the stock battery is under factory warranty? I just had my car serviced a few weeks ago and now the battery is dying. I was thinking Costco for a battery but does anyone know what an Optima battery would run in the Bay Area? I need one soon. Is it even worth it?

Autozone group 49 battery works as well!

My emergency (and CHEAP) purchase at an Autozone 6 months ago turned out to be better than I expected. I was worried about my losing OEM battery's robustness in supplying maintenance current when the car is turned off. But it's going strong and I seem to have less Lamp Light Failures than before

I heard good things about Optimas and also its supposed technical superiority. Should be a good alternative to OEM batteries.

How cheap was it. I just talked to a shop in my immediate area and they said thats the cheapest place to get a battery, even cheaper than Costco.

Thanks for the feedback.

I paid 100 bucks. Not sure what the retail is on the battery. The shop who installed my brakes cut me some slack. I bought the yellow Optima since I do not drive my car during the week. Here is a website which might help. http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/ They have prices.

If you mean my replacement battery...

It was $65.

The shop was Advance Auto Parts (not Autozone -- I always confuse the two). The Item # was 2040034 Autocraft Titanium Group 49.

I later found out that Autocraft is made by Johnson Control (they make Optima as well). Check out autobatteries.com for proper fitment. You have to choose between Group 48 and 49 depending on the year and model of E-class.

My optima upgrade is very dependable, and shaves much weight off the OEM...

Battery Replacement

I called Mercedes when my battery went bad and they came to the house and replaced it for free. I was the second owner of a 1997 E-320. I know the policy has changed but I think they still come out and replace it for cheap.

Wink

I decided to go with the Autozone Brand for a battery. $79.01 including a $8 core. It went in perfect and fit just like the factory battery. It has a 7 year guarantee and a 2 year free replacement. The Optima was $119 and only had a one year guarantee. Can't be too mad at saving $40.
