Question WTH WEIRD SOUNDS /Confuses

Hi I hope somebody can give me some answers here.I do not know much about cars I will try to make this as short as possible , the car was fine until he passed,he passed away on 9/27/202 husband was main driver of the Mercedes E320 and after he passed away the car started acting weird , first it wouldn’t crank so we jumped it off a couple times and drove it around to see if the battery was the problem, that didn’t help so after the last time we drove it we parked it and my son was sitting in the garage and he heard this weird sound, sounded like an old tree frog but it was a high-pitched sound so we went outside and figured out that it was coming from the car the car was turned off the ignition was turned off but it was making this weird sound don’t know why but we couldn’t get the key to turn in the ignition it was locked so I unhooked the black battery cable and the sound stopped so I can’t figure out what the sound was why I couldn’t turn the key, what do I need to do?get a new battery?I don’t know what to do I can’t drive the car anywhere so I don’t know what to do to get it going again?

note;the car had to be jumped every time we drove it or just started it,I changed the key fob batteries on one of the key fob recently, the car was fine before he passed,I just don’t understand what happened confuses me.....
any advice would be nice ,thanks

Possibly your anti-theft alarm horn - needs to be replaced.

Sorry for your loss. Does sound like you need a new battery, or at least a good charge followed by a battery test. Not my first choice for a battery, but if you have a AAA membership they will come and test your battery and install a replacement "on site"

Thank you, does this car have only one battery, heard some MB have 2,and if I do want to change battery out do I have to buy from DEALER or can buy at any auto supply store or does it have to be special ordered? Sorry for the ignorance ,I really just don’t have a clue since the loss.
‘Thank you

You're doing great, and you're asking the right questions. Only 1 battery in your car under the back seat. Ideally a genuine Mercedes battery from the dealer would be best (but you'd probably spend up to $300+ for the battery and install). My #2 choice would be an "Interstate Battery Service Center" if you have one in your area (slightly cheaper, my local center does a test and install for no additional charge). The AAA option is nice for the convenience, and I'd recommend a membership even if you don't use them for the battery. I suspect most auto parts stock a compatible battery, called "H8"
I agree with Khomer2 above that your chirping noise is the alarm, but alarms get flaky with a low battery and it may not really be a problem

Batteries on these devices are not replaceable. You can try, a few have I would imagine. imo, the best bet is to either disconnect it (many have opted to do this), or replace the unit.

So sorry for your loss. It sounds to me like your alarm is draining the battery. You need to either disconnect the alarm or get the alarm fixed and buy a battery trickle charger to keep the battery charged up when the car isn't being driven so the alarm won't drain the battery. Trickle chargers aren't real expensive. I had this happen with my MB. I had to have the alarm fixed and once I did that, I bought a trickle charger to hook my car up to when it wasn't being driven and I've never had a problem. Your alarm will just keep draining whatever battery you put in the car until the alarm issue is resolved.

All the best with your surgery and recovery Becamoses. At this point I would suggest you disengage your alarm while dealing with your surgery and recovery. Auto security alarms are tapped in to the car's main battery and will drain that battery if they're not working properly. This is how the security alarm for my MB works.

Ok thanks I had disconnected the battery already because we thought it was weak, when I feel up to it and get the battery tested and/or replaced I’ll see if I can figure out if it was the alarm system draining it, thank you.

Based on my experience with my MB it's most likely that your alarm is draining your battery. You must first determine if the alarm is draining the battery or your alarm with just drain the new battery and will keep draining new batteries until you either get the alarm fixed or disable it so it can no longer keep draining new batteries. I wish you all the best with your surgery and full recovery.

Well,I have pretty much removed from the surgery,Igot my younger brother to come over, he’s not a MB man,he checked a couple of things and hooked it up to his peer jumper ,it started right up with the alarm blaring, turned it off with key fob,I told him the story of how it died right when my hubby did,he said that was just coincidence, anyway went and bought a new battery ,put it and got a couple codes on the brakes which was cuz it hadn’t been driven in about a month anyway we took it out for a ride, codes cleared their selves, and I go out and crank it up every other day or so,no problems cranking it so far,I do need to replace one of the front lights it says 1 malfunction and IM guessing that’s it,anyway so hopefully it was just that the battery needed to be replaced, thank for all the help and comments,I want to sell it if anybody knows anybody who want it.
‘it’s a 2000 E320.will give more details if you are interested.
thanks
