Mystery Driver Door Rattle Almost Solved. $20 Reward...
I've been living with a rattle in my driver's door when I slammed it for about three months. I could hear something rattling around if I shook the door back and forth in its arc. I watched the MB video on how to remove the front door panel here (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...F704968FE8E9B2), and took the panel off.
Immediately I found the long allen-head bolt sitting atop the horizontal crash bar. I removed it but the rattle persisted when I shook the door before putting it all back together.
I had to destroy the black foam sound insulation that was "L-shaped" and wedged into the corner of the door in order to get to the other loose bolt. The black short allen-head bolt shown in the same photo.
Rattle is gone now, but where do these bolts belong? I'll PayPal $20 to the guy/gal who can help me return these things to their proper location.
Thx. Bolt on the left was retrieved with my magnetic telescoping wand. Black bolt on the right wasn't magnetic. I had to use my microjaw grabber. Both bolts have allen heads
I had to completely destroy the black corner foam insert to get to the bolt laying at the bottom of the door. Reinstalled the door panel and I don't notice any difference in road noise. Yay.
