Split rear seats for W210?

Did Mercedes ever sell a split/folding rear seat option for the W210 like they now do for the W211 series?

If so, is it retrofitable?

4 wheeled car.
No, because behind the rear seats is the gas tank. So that just wasn't feasible. It's sad, cuz that's one of my favorite feature.

Hey - thanks for the quick response. And now that you say that, I remember peeking behind the panel there and noting the gas tank; that slipped my mind.

I'll save my pennies for an E320 CDI when they finally become available here in CA...and am enjoying my 99 Turbodiesel a lot so far.

There's that thing i read on the CDI section of the forums, where if you get a CDI w/ 7k miles or something like that from outta state, that you can legal register it here in Cali... you should look into it.

Believe me, I thought about it...in fact, there was a 05 CDI at a dealer in Florida, with 5,000 miles on it, advertised online last month (the drive back would have put it over the 7,500 mile limit). The law here reads a bit ambiguously and it wasn't clear whether they'd allow it in. I'm OK to wait until I can get a brand new one with my choice of color and options (maybe even do European delivery).
