Problem with car

Hey guys, just wanting to share a prob. with the car and hope there's someone that can help me out..

my rev is pretty odd now..feels like i'm stuck in third gear, and it won't go up into fourth..worse, when i slow down, the rev will drop down quickly below 5K, and quickly pop up to above 10K..when this happens , the car feels like its surging foward..when i set the car in neutral, and rev the engine, it does the same thing which i just mentioned, and worse when it goes below 5K and kills the engine totally..I'm thinking maybe my air flow meter is screwed, or worse still my exhaust is busted, or my gear box screwed..anyone can help chip in? thanks!

I am going through something very similar. My car is curretly in the sho p because I thought it was the transmission but it turned out to be bad coils, bad suppressors and the oilers were leaking so plugs got fouled and something happened to ruin the MAF. It should be ready tomorrow and I will give you an update.

well, got the car back..it was the MAF..changed a new one at about US 420...:/ and it was a BOsch OEM MAF and not the original Mercedes parts, which would have cost me a bomb. :/

also found out that my tensioner and fan belt went kaput after only 25,000km..:/ and that was the part that was giving me problems, with a loud noise during D and R...apparently the parts i had before were OEM parts..now I've replaced it with original mercedes parts..it drives like new, but hopefully, lets see what happens after the first 5000km..

and all four of my tyres seems to be eating in the inside..:/ apparently I was told it's a W210 probelm, but I've never seen ppl raise this issue before..:/ and being directional, its a hassle to rotate, and align the tyres...

feeling pretty down with the $$ spent..time to put the exhaust at the back berner..:P

Don't quite understand about OEM and original Mercedes parts. OEM parts are the original mfg original equipment and are the same as Mercedes original parts. Can you please explain what you mean??

well, oem is the original parts for sure, but they're branded as the mannufacturer's parts, and not as mercedes benz ( altough they do share the same part numbers ) Although the OEM manufacturer's do manufacture parts for mercedes benz, MB has their own quality control checks before it's stuffed in their MB boxes....

for example, like the AMF, which cost me US450 for a bosch box sensor, but it will cost about US900-US1000 for te original part..

its the same parts..but for my case, it seems the OEM parts doesn't seem to fit as well as the original Mercedes box parts..

but we'll see after 5000km, and see how long the belt tensioner will last..

Thanks Rich..

back after a long time..it was sure troublesome to get the tensioner and fan belt to be fixed..I think I'll be going back to C&C for regular service, and if there's anything major and I get the actual cause of it plus the parts needed to be changed, I'll pop over to my current mechaninc due to the cheaper parts and labour..

car feels tighter now that's for sure..but my future mods are now pushed back a bit.:/
