Removing side mirror shell

I'd been seeking for how to remove the shell from the side view mirrors. I want to replace my mirrors but need to figure how to safely remove the shell.

Fold the mirror back against the door and look for the clip that holds the shell on. Pop it over with a screw driver and slide the cover off. Make sure you don't hit the mirror glass on the way off.

I looked inside it and can't tell for sure which clip it is. Is it a think metal bar that goes from top to bottom?

Is there some sort of hook I need to look for that is holding the clip on?

the retaining clip is about as thick as a wire clothes hangar and sits in the mirror vertical. it does go from top to bottom pop it forward and the cover should slide off.

Push to fold the mirror, look inside, you will see two clip (top & bottom) that look in the case, push them out of the lock, the pull the cover out. The mirror is actually bond to the housing via double side tape. Carefully pull the mirror from the housing. You will need a new set of heavy-duty 3M double side tape for the new set of mirror.

To put the cover back, just push them back in, the sprint clips will lock the cover
