changing springs...

did anyone change their springs by themselves??

I have a set of H&R drop springs that im gonna install myself and im wondering if its gonna be difficult, and wondering what tools will i need...

i did
u need spring compressor for front
for rear u need 2 jack stands, 2 jacks 19mm, 18mm, 17mm ratchet and cresent wrench.
ur all set shuold take no more then 25-30 min to do the rear
fronts take abuot 10 minuets with spring ocmpressor.
rear u dont need spring compressor

is this for a W210 cuz in your sig it says C220


sorry if they both are the same..


but anyways was it hard to do?...

i did the front and rear without spring compressor took me all day! i would have gladly paid $150.00 for the job! but then again i ran into some problems getting the control arm to lower. after the control arm lowered i still had to cut the old spring to remove it. if you can find a spring compressor the whole job shouldnt take more than 1/2 hour on a lift or 1 hr with a jack.

yes they are both the same. E class is much easier since it is longer in hte back gives you more room to work with than a C class

For the front - instead of removing the lower control arm pivot bolts, I broke or unpressed the upper ball joint. This allows the lower control arm to swing lower to remove the spring. You will still need a spring compressor to get it out, but at this point, you can use a single, external type compressor. Also, you are not compressing the spring fully, just enough to get it out of the lower spring pocket.

For the rear - I took out the pivot bolt on the lower arm. The right side went very fast to remove and replace. The left side I had a hard time lining up the mounting holes.
