Any pros & cons of using Akebono Ceramic Pads with Zimmerman coated rotors?

I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve. I switched to Akebonos a few years ago to reduce the dust while preserving stopping distances. I installed the Akebono Euro Ceramic pads 10 years ago on my 1999 E430. I used stock rotors from the dealer. The Akebono pads produce minimal dust and have a much better pedal feel than the stock pads. A bit firmer and much more progressive in feel - similar to my Porsche rather than the on-off feel of the stock pads. I ran a few measured stopping tests on a section of abandoned road nearby and the Akebonos stopped in the same distance as the stock pads. I have 45,000 miles on the Akebonos and they are 1/2 worn. They also seem rotor friendly - the rotors are showing little wear since I installed the pads.

I don't know anything about the Zimmerman rotors, but I wouldn't pay a premium for them.

I do suggest changing the rotors when installing the Akebono pads. I installed the Akebonos on worn (stock) rotors on my 2000 C280 Sport and they squealed badly.
