I disassembled the gear shifter and cleaned the circuit boards and contacts with CRC electronics cleaner. My reverse (backup) lights were not working. I suspect I must have spilled coffee on my console.

I have applied the above fix and it worked for a few years but now I have the problem again. I would love to know whether the cleaning works.

Heyash ...How did you manage to separate the plastic casing without breaking tabs? Can you tell us or show us which tabs we need to pry?. Any plastic tab I touch breaks
Did you lift the first or top plastic piece out or did you press it into the case to remove it ? The pictures are great but its unclear how you dd it. Very impressive actually. I hope you can help I have the P1856 error but only in Park. So frustrating.
