Power steering woes
Howdy gents,
I have an ‘00 E320 4matic wagon (rides like a dream but it seems I got the worst possible combination to work on), I had a leaking high pressure line so I had it rebuilt and filled it with chf11. The new pressure line exploded so I had it rebuilt again but bigger and stronger. Both times I’ve noticed my rack is now squealing as if it isn’t getting enough fluid, which was not an issue before. Is it possible chf11 is just the wrong fluid to use, or is it more likely that something got stuck in the rack while the lines were off? Maybe I somehow reattached the return line wrong?

So I was told today to try and find out whether the original line had a restrictor in it. The hydraulics shop gave me one that fit in near the pump side of the line which I was told to drill to 3/16” and expand as necessary, although it seems I’ll need another one and will actually have to go smaller. Does anyone know about this, or have a picture of the disassembly of the original high pressure line?

You "rebuilt" the HP line twice? Mine had a leak a month ago and I replaced the entire line with a new Rein hose and a Lemforder PS fluid reservoir.
