W210 Station , Year 2000, Engine OM611 220 CDI 143CV Auto - Black Smoke poor Idle

Hello,

I have a W210 Station , Year 2000, Engine OM611 220 CDI 143CV, Automatic

I ´ve been struggeling for long time about rough / unstable idle and exhaust smoke (mainly when climbing hills or passing other cars).

Most of the CDI´s from this generation suffer from same smoking problem

I read a comment on a youtube video, where a guy said that he solved this two issues, just unplugging the IAT (input air temperature) sensor.

Couldn´t believe it, WORKS! Just like a miracle, IAT unplugged and no more visible smoke, idle is perfect! Even the exhaust smell is less active , almost imperceptible!

I bought a new sensor, but with the new sensor, the problems return

Have anyone here had this fight before ?

Note: I´m also struggling with the Admission Intake Inlet Manifold Swirl Flaps... they ate not opening, but they move free, and have recently been clean.
With car connected to computer, the swirl flaps respont to the open / close command, so the motor/mechanist are ok.
I´m tempted to delete this swirl flaps... Opinios are appreciated !

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem (EGR behavior and RPM are similar to yours) and no errors or leaks were found.
It seems that the amount of oxygen is decreasing and is not enough for the injected diesel.
I have no idea where the source of the problem is.

Have you already fixed the problem?
