1999 E300 Fuel in Filler neck
I'm stumped by this fuel problem I've been having with my 1999 E300 with the OM606.962
Problem: Fuel leaves the tank, entering the filler neck and gets passed the filler neck spilling into the overflow hose leaking on the ground above 1/2 tank. This does not happen when fuel is below 1/2 a tank. Have been doing splash n dashes filling up $10-20 at a time which is fine but extremely annoying. I would like to get this problem solved.
Possilbe solutions: I have no idea. I'm completely lost on what could be going wrong as are 2 Stealerships worth of techs and service advisors.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know if our era cars had it, but I just got through with a $2,700 repair for something similar on my wife's KIA. I was about some gasoline fume recycling pollution control system. This thing sucks fumes out of the tank and runs them through some sort of cannister and attempts to put them back in the engine so raw gas fumes don't escape out the filler neck. The cannister itself, some inaccessible part in the fuel tank, and the recycling controls on the engine failed and it was a bugger to get fixed at the stealership.
