Lean on fuse box
Hello you lovely people
my e350 2010 cab keeps going nuts on the electrics and the all the fault message come up when it rains, then it just won't start for a few days.
Ran water off the screen and it appeared to trickle onto the fuse box cover, but was convince it couldn't be that as it probably ran off, but noticed the sponge behind was damp, ordered a new case as recommended by the garage who said the seal wasn't doing its job. Hope it fixes the problem if it's that.
anyone else had this issue ?
thank you

Internal fuse box is not meant to be weatherproof as the cab supposed to seal them from the weather. Exterior box are meant to be weatherproof. So if your leak is internal, than what's the point of getting new box? If it's indeed water getting into the box, it WILL find it's way sooner or later. You need to fix the leak first.
If it's external box, then yeah, new box make sense. But with such a newer car than mine, you may want to find what cause the gasket on the external box to lose the seal. Mine is 2000 E320 and the seal is still going strong. I also have 86 (yes, that's 1986) Monte Carlo SS and entire engine room still seal with original weatherstrip/gasket. So yeah, you need to find what caused the gasket/seal to lose it's function. Most common enemy of the seals/gaskets are heat mostly. Next in line is chemicals.
Water and electronics don't mix. Find that leak before you get stuck in middle of nowhere. You said it won't start for next few days when this happen, unless you have a whole camping gear in your trunk.

Hi
thank you for your response
The water runs through the windows wiper knuckle and onto the fuse box
i have replaced the fuse box cover, hence replacing the seal.
