Exhaust choice
It seems that I'm gonna go full custom on my exhaust, rather than spending a ridiculous $1,200 for name brand (ie Brabus, Wald,etc been there, done that), which is no more different than my stock exhaust.
So, I got my tips selected, and now I need the muffler/canister. I thought about Magnaflow because thats what the shop carries, but come on, it's a Benz, not a Mustang.

I thought about Borla, but I dont know **** about them (nor any other muffler companies out there to be honest).
I don't need a muffler that has tips, b/c they'll get chopped up anyway.
Englighten me please.

Yo Mike, the link doesnt work - which muffler from that site do you mean? They all seem to be Jap brands but all very reputable, albeit, popular "ricer brands" (but also many are track proven). I can try find out about them if you tell me which specific brand and model. I also understand some mufflers are only good for cars tuned specifically for the track which are running constantly at high revs (Group A, I think) and will actually take away power if put on a street car, so beware.

None of the big name tuners offer the tips I wanna use, nor are they configured to fit my wald bumper. I'll just go full custom then. Tomorrow it's getting on

I have a 2002 E320 SE. I too would like to change my exhaust but I want to put true dual exhaust. I don't see how this would work b/c the spare tire takes up most of the right rear. With this in mind, has anyone fit a true dual exhaust to a 6cyl. E320?
I also noticed a lot of resonators in the exhaust piping... atleast that's what is looks like. If these are removed, will it make the exhaust sound like a "ricer"? Sorry, hate to use ricer, but that is the only way to describe it.
Another note, if I could fabricate a true dual exhaust, does anyone make a rear bumper piece that would make this look as good a say... a CL500 exhaust? It appears the CL500 exhaust does not have cutouts in the rear bumper. It looks like the tips are flattened a little to make it work...
These cars are really tough to upgrade... parts are difficult to find and when you do... HOLY COW $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

A true dual exhaust is where each bank of cylinders gets its own exhaust piping, including resonators, mufflers, and exhaust tips, all the way to the back of the car. A V6, V8, etc. would literally have two pipes that ran the length of the car.

Well alright, I got my **** done. $313 out the door. Went w/ the Magnaflow exhaust, convertered everything to a single 2 1/2 inch pipe, and dual chrome tips. **** looks good, though I think I'll get bigger tips later, as there is a tiny bit of space around the left and right of the cutout that bugs me lol. As for the sound, it's nice a throaty, not ricy, not muscle car like, so me likes. Though if it gets to be too loud, I think I'll put the resonator back (well another one since it's single pipe now). $80 installed for resonator.
