finally went to dealer ,got the insert for 14.99 and was pain in the **** for me take it out..dont know why ,looks like the previous tabs to allow the claws to release was bent ..anyway finally was able to do it,,,and wow,,,can see again.....freaking old wiper was shuddering so damn loud

I just buy new wiper all together. I dont feel like going through that tedious work. I went to PEP boys and got winX winshield wiper, however, it does make a nice towards the end of the cycle. The OEM wiper did too, so I am not too concerned.

I use to work for a VW dealer, and there if new car’s were sold 9 months after there production date, we would put on new blades when the PDI was performed. Life expectancies would depend on usage and the amount of sun light on the wipers.
Also if your wiper is skipping across the windshield and making noise, check if the actual blade is at 90 degrees to the windshield. Meaning when the wiper is at rest the part of the blade that is touching the window should not be folded over (left or right). If it is, you can twist the wiper arm (gently) so that it will sit at 90 degrees. I prefer to start out with a new blade before I twist anything.
