Hey there folks, wondering if anyone has come across this issue before. Picked up an S210 E320 recently with over 300k miles. The cluster permanently has the light bulb out error. I can scroll through the menus "behind" the light bulb error, but it persists as if it is burned into the display. Anyone else seen this? I don't think this is a ribbon cable symptom. I will have to run some further diagnostics with my scanner if I can determine the display itself is at fault, but its definitely a weird one. The display polarizer is also clearly faulty given the overall lack of contrast. I have considered getting a donor cluster from another '98 at the junkyard, but I believe I would have to transfer the EEPROM from this cluster to preserve the mileage data. Video attached shows what happens when I attempt to scroll through the pages/menus. Thanks in advance for your input!

You don't have to transfer the EEPROM. You can have the replacement cluster re-virginized and your vehicle VIN programmed into it and the mileage of your current vehicle programmed into the replacement cluster to keep it legal.
I had it done to my '99 W210 by someone familiar with the programming. Maybe some day I'll try to figure it out; it can be done, however.
