Insurance

elemnt,
Did his insurance cover the damages? Was there a police report? Just checking coz a friend was in the same situation (turning left), the insurance company (other drivers') declined the charges. They said that he was at fault, he must have yeilded to oncoming traffic, regardless if its already a red light.

Just checking. Get a lawyer.

SOrry to see that kind of damage. It not bad as it look but I'm not surprise how much it cost to fix since Benz are very costly with body parts and espeically Labor charges

ELEMNT ONE when you get your rear Carlsson bumper please let me know how it look's like, because when i call Carlsson they tell me that for my pre facelift W210 E430 i will still need some parts of my original bumper. I thought that for pre facelift the whole bumper gets replaced.
Thank You

That sucks man. I got sideswipped because some idiot ran a red and failed to yeild. 2 nice dents in a nearly perfect car. The main thing is you were able to walk away, and the car will be fixed. My car just came back from the shop and the best advice I can share with you is becareful of hidden charges that they dont tell you about. For example, they tried to charge me $200 for an SRS reset code that they never reset and then tried to tack on another 2% because the bill was over 2k. The man who hit me paid for it by check not through insurance so maybe with insurance it would be different. Glad to hear your ok and the car will be fixed. I feel your pain.

Actually for the preface lifted W210, you need the OEM bumper. Now, with my old rear bumper, it was molded with the Carlsson skirt to make it look like a whole new bumper.

See how the bumper looks like a whole? Normally, you would see where the OEM and Carlsson meet if you did not mold it. Hope this helps.

The bumper Jimmy gave you was probably the OEM bumper molded with the Carlsson skirt....

I hope so, I had no problems with putting it on and no offence to Jimmy but the net that comes with Carlsson skirt he was going to send me one never did.
Thanx
As said above no problems with Jimmy, i spoke to him when i got the bumper and he never said that something had to be molded.

i believe the post99 W210 Carlsson front bumper kits uses the orginal front bumper as it is only an add on lip , unlike the pre99 W210 which actually changes the whole thing. The carlsson kits for the pre99s were all fibre glass, and due to bad economic times, they opted out for add on kits 2000+ onwards (made of PU).

hubert, i don't think you got played, the pre99 kits were whole pieces and are meant to replace the OEM bumpers. Only the post99s you were suppose to keep the originals..I think the guys you called at Carlsson were probably not paying attention.

Elment one, I think your original bumper could be the whole piece, since you mentioned it was fibreglass. the OEM bumpers are usually PU.

hope that helps....

Your bumper looks just like mine... hmm, and where did you get that Carlsson badge on the lower right hand side of the bumper? Mine does not have that. Did they just start putting those one?

Nah, they've always put the badges on , but its a separate item..I bought the original carlsson badge from a shop here, and just placed it on the area based on what carlsson usually does to their cars. But i recently had to take it out coz I sent my bumper for a respray, couldnt find an original again, so i ended buying it from ebay, which was very close, but slightly bigger...

Of course my bumper is the same as yours! its the same thing! bad thing about fibreglass, once broken badly, may never be fixed..and carlsson has indeed stopped producing kits for the pre99, but i'm hoping you'll be able to find one on your side..

I'd say go for the carlsson hood and trunk badge to complete the look! did mine and I'm a happy camper...see thread https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...t=92781&page=1

Why everyone is saying that they stoped producing body kits for pre00 W210, it's not true they still make them is just that it takes little longer to get them because they don't have them in stock they make them when you order. I know this because i spoke to a guy Sebastian who works in Carlsson Germany and speek's english and he told me this. :p

do they make them in PU or fibreglass hubert? I'm also curious on why they require the OEM bumper for the pre99 cars...

I guess diff people get diff answers..I had someone enquire direct through Carlsson Germany, and they said they were fresh out , and they didn't mention anything about custom order.

Well, I will find out when I get my rear bumper in, but I'm pretty sure it's still Fiberglass.

UPDATE:

OK this is retarded.

I spoke to USAA and they told me that they will not execpt liability because I have no witness and he has no witness whatsoever.

So they are pretty much siding with him, and my insurance company is siding with me... so wtf?

This is poop. First of all, when he first gave his statement he said 'uhh... I thought it was... yellow... ::drool::" (retard) and now he said it was for sure green. Right.

So what is interesting is that I have been MORE than WILLING to give information, take pictures, do whatever to get this **** dealt with properly and he has been lagging on everything! He was avoiding my insurance company and his because he did not want to give a statement. So I called his *** and told him he better tell them what they want so I can get my car fixed. >_<

::sigh:: I've been the one who's been putting the initiate and he has done jack squart. So now what do I do? I called and left a message with my Adjuster, but she hasn't called me back.

What can I do to get HIM to pay for HIM running the bloody light!

When i called they said its fiberglass, the bumper that i have for a station wagon is fiberglass too.
Elemnt One sorry to hear it but i guess thats how it works with insurances they just want to delay the case.

ElemtOne, sorry about the **** you're going through...last time i had a major crash in Australia ( chick rammed me from behind, car was written off) my insurance company took action, paid me off in 2 weeks, and dealt directly with the person that rammed me ( or the their insurance company , now that's what I call professional ). and that was that...

I think your insurance company should get your car fixed and all, and deal with the SOB that knocked you directly, and leave you out of the clear..that's what you're paying premiums for... i would think the cops would be able to take pics of the crash site and deduce things themselves, or just investigate it further..

Hope all goes well for you man..
