Iridium Plugs
I will be picking up my order of 12 Denso Iridiums from Autozone in the Bronx tonight. I ordered it last Saturday and I believe I paid $12 and change per plug, or about $150 for the entire set of 12. It's definitely not cheap but heck, how many times do you change your plugs anyway? My car has 70,000 with the original plugs. Nothing really wrong with my engine but I can feel a rare sputter sometimes while sitting in a traffic light. Might not be plug related but they need to be changed anyway. I figured it must be worth the little sacrifice and I am sure the engine will be "glowing" with the new plugs.
The issue I am grappling with is whether or not I ask a mechanic (or even the dealer) to change the plugs or I do it myself. I am scheduled for a Service B and was thinking of doing not only the plugs but the transmission fluid flush as well. have not done that since 40,000 miles.
You live in NYC right? Maybe if you get your plugs too we could coordinate with a mechanic (or dealer) to change the plugs in both our cars. What say you?
Paxfo...
Pax,My car goes in for second "A" service,(33,000)and I plan to have them(Sovereign Motors,Brooklyn) put on my Evo pulleys, and now I will have them change the plugs for me too.Im going to ask for the old plugs and pulleys when they do it.If you are interested in using my dealer, let me know.

I use Silverstar motors. Not a great dealer but convenient to me to head there before work and after work via subway. My car however was bought from MB Manhattan which is a pain to get to from midtown. Silverstar also only charge $315 for their Service B, which I understand is pretty cheap relative to some price quoted here in the forum.
Anyway, let me know how much your stealer charges you for the plug install and I will let you know mine as well. Plan to do a ton of things for service B, like flush and change anything with fluids (engine oil, transmission fluid, gas tank, radiator, brake, power steer, window wash - EVERYTHING WITH FLUID) and change all the filters (oil, tranny, air, fuel, aircon, etc) and have the engine and underchassis washed.
Will be changing all the tires too so all these changes in addition to the new Densos will give the car a new rebirth and have a good start for my long spring drive to Disneland Orlando. Also to have something to show for the NYC gathering. The car has 70K so might as well do everything right with the new plugs.
Keep in touch...
