Help!

my parents have a '96 E320 (W210). it's been a fairly reliable despite people saying crap about "german cars this and that". BUT the light on the climate control went out and there's this "Check Engine" light on.
Can't do anything about the check engine light, but i think i can fix the climate control panel light not working..
so i need some help.. does anyone know how to take out the center console? this will greatly help me out.
the dealer's charging $120/hr and they said it's approximately 4 hour job with $320 to find what the problem is..
thanks a lot.

To remove the climate control unit unit in the dash I believe you will need mercedes radio removal tools you can find them online or ebay.As for the check engine light go to auto zone they can read the code for free then you will have a general idea of what may have caused the error or forum could help.

if you go to benz dealership, you can buy those keys for 10 bucks. With them you can change your head unit and your climate control.
